Accidental Sex Goddess: Naked Yoga

Last week while moving through a Vinyasa sequence, I found myself in an extremely awkward downward dog. My back was arched and my bare heels were desperately trying to find my mat. Then I heard my annoyingly graceful yoga instructor say, “Now release the tension in your face.”

In the interest of full-disclosure, here’s something you should probably know up front: for a sex goddess, I am NOT very flexible.

Don’t get me wrong, Mr. Goddess never complains, but a few times a week, when I grab my yoga mat, head to a class and try to twist myself into ridiculous poses…it becomes clear that I’ll never be a gymnast…or a porn star.

Back to the yoga class though, I thought, “this bitch of an instructor is crazy,” but no sooner than I dismissed her positive-coaching as stupidity, she came behind me and pulled my hips back in a way that could only be described as pure ecstasy.

Granted, once she let me go I was back in awkward agony, but that fleeting bit of yoga-bunny bliss triggered a thought – how come I never try to do yoga during sex?

Now, don’t get me wrong, I’ve been known to lift a leg, twist my back and use my quads with the best of ‘em, but considering that I punish myself several times a week for all of the most common yoga benefits (spiritual enlightenment, increased flexibility, digestive health) it is crazy that I haven’t tried out some of these tricks in bed.

So here we are folks, my top three “modified” yoga poses to try out  in the bedroom (but not necessarily on a mattress though…consider the floor). PLEASE NOTE: Though I am a goddess, I’m definitely not a yoga instructor. The real descriptions are paraphrased courtesy of YogaJournal.com, and the “goddess modifications” come from my own twisted mind.

Downward-Facing Doggie-Style

According to the good folks at Yoga Journal, Downward-Facing Dog or Adho Mukha Svanasana, engages and stretches the upper-body. Begin the pose on all-fours. Make sure your knees and and hips are both shoulder width apart. When you exhale, lift your knees up and off of the floor. Lengthen your back and lift your butt toward the ceiling while pushing your ankles down.

Goddess Modification:

Similarly to doggie style let your partner stand behind you. You may have to bend your knees slightly so that your ass aligns with your partner. Allow him to push himself inside of you and use your arms and shoulders to push against him. See how long you can keep your arms extended.

HINT: Make sure you partner keeps a firm grip on your top of your hips, slightly lengthening your back with every stroke.

 

The Maple Tree and the Honey Pot

The experts at Yoga Journal say that Vrksasana, or Tree Pose, lengthens the arms and the thighs. Starting in Mountain Pose, you shift most of your weight to one side, and gently raise your opposite foot to rest on your inner thigh. When you’re ready you can slowly raise your arm, lengthening and extending your back. 

Goddess Modification:

This screams oral sex for me. See how long you can stand in the pose while your partner kneels in front of you and tries to… uh…taste your honey pot.

HINT: Consider doing this near a wall, or make sure you partner is ready to catch you if you lose balance.

 

Plow (Me) Pose

Okay, of all the ambitious poses I adore, this one makes me feel the most alive. Something about pulling your legs over your torso is invigorating, although I do warn you, tread lightly as there’s a risk for neck injury. The folks at Yoga Journal suggest getting into Plow Pose or Halasana, by first putting a blanket underneath your back to support your neck. Exhale and tip your hips over your head (carefully) until your toes hit the floor beyond your head.

Goddess Modification:

Your ass is in the air, your legs are above your head – the possibilities are endless! Whether using a mouth, or hands or genitals  (or all of the above),  everything  (and I mean EVERYTHING) is on display and served up for your partners delight. Consider having your partner sit on all fours and allow your back to rest on his hips so that you are not balancing on your own

HINT: this pose requires a lot of trust because when I’ve done it, my neck feels very vulnerable (I’m also known to carry lots of tension there). Make sure your partner is a multi-tasker so he can make you cum and hold you steady.
