Zero-G Whoopie

In the book “The Final Mission: Mir The Human Adventure” author Pierre Kohler revealed that sexual experiments were conducted aboard a 1996 Space Shuttle mission.  The experiments were meant so satisfy questions about the ease and mechanics of sex in zero gravity.  NASA believes this to be valuable scientific information, especially as the duration of missions becomes longer.

The project, codenamed STS-XX tested 10 sexual positions, of which 4 were found to be viable without mechanical assistance. Those positions have not been made public.

In terms of value for money – each space shuttle mission costs $450 million – according to NASA official figures. That works out at $112.5 million per position.  $450 million is a lot of money so two people can say they are part of the 250 miles high club.
