The porn industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world. With the Internet becoming a crucial tool in modern day society, the convergence of both Internet and porn have potential that seems exponential. Knowing that the industry is large only gives you a frosted look into how big the business actually is. Some of these facts will give you a gauge toward “respectable” business establishments such as baseball (steroids) and television (enough said).

1. The porn industry in the United States caps out at 12 Billion dollars.

The porn industry is larger than all the professional baseball, football, and basketball franchise revenues combined. It also Goliath’s the television networks by bringing in more than NBC, ABC, and CBS. So basically the population of the United States is spending more money on porn than it is on/at sporting events or time spent in front of the television. Consider that porn is extremely more stimulating and interesting than say Lebron James and Dancing with the Stars,  this actually seems like a let down. Porn should be soaring above summer blockbusters, NASCAR, and the prevalence of obesity for that matter, and whatever else mid-western America enjoys.

2. 70% of all women keep their cyber activities secret.

No shit.

3. 20% of Men admit to accessing porn while at work

Work sucks already and if you had the chance to just wake up to a life of parties, dinners, and fucking, I’m sure anyone would – but like most, men are at work and bored, so why not a quick glance? This is such a commonality that websites like Reddit have a whole section dedicated to NSFW (not safe for work), just so you know before hand, if the boss is watching, stay away.. and look at something a little less hardcore, like no cum-shots.

4.  90% of 8-16 year olds having viewed porn online  (mostly while doing homework)

This follows suit with the stat above. You’re bored and there’s a computer in front of you. Just because there’s an age difference doesn’t mean the kids aren’t interested. This time your boss, or parents, aren’t always around to check up on you. Also, anyone in front of a screen looking at it intently seems like they’re working diligently. I’m sure if these kids were to stand up, their parents would be surprised by how far the child’s love for education really goes.

5. 47% of Christians said that pornography addiction is a major problem within the home .

This is probably inaccurate since Christians aren’t really sure how to deal with sexuality. The rules are ambiguous as to how far you’re allowed to go on a date, but would you marry someone without sleeping with them?

6.  The average guy in the industry makes 40,000 a year.

This isn’t that promising of a future – economically, but what can you expect for a job description that most people fantasize about: job duties include degrading/objectifying/pleasing women. Must have creative energy that can interfaces well, and of course, doesn’t mind being fluffed.

7. The average woman in the industry makes anywhere from 100,000-250,000$ (depending on what scene she is performing in).

It’s been quoted that women run the industry and here are the numbers to prove it. Basically the more cock you add to the screen the more the actress is compensated (which almost seems unfair). According to Videobox, a porn website, actresses make these rates:

Blowjobs: $200–$400

Straight sex: $400–$1,200

Anal sex: $900–$1,500

Double Penetration: $1,200–$1,600

Double anal: $2,000

For more unusual fetishes, women generally get 15% extra. If starting at an early age, with diversification of her portfolio and a 401k, the average actress with proper investment could retire around 40. She may have to endure Herpes, but at least she won’t be on food stamps!

8. 40M US adults regularly visit Internet pornography websites.

People say that it’s addicting, but if everyone’s watching it, isn’ there something wrong with the minority? The vision impaired population probably lowers these numbers, but ask the next blind person you see if they had a chance to watch porn and I’m sure you’ll get more than enough information, or the story of how they lost their sight.

9. 53% of Promise Keeper men viewed pornography in last week.

Promise Keepers is a Christian men’s organization in which they pledge outlandish vows and try to see who can uphold them for as long as possible (e.g. No masturbation, no pornography, no sex before marriage, no anal sex etc). Basically anything fun is off limits, but even their own members can’t keep their “promises”, or their hands off themselves.

10. Women, far more than men, are likely to act out their behaviors in real life, such as having multiple partners, casual sex, or affairs.

This is the most refreshing stat here. The reason is because no man in his right mind (and heterosexual) would turn down any woman for a chance to have sex. Unless there’s speculation of a general lack of hygiene, I’d like to think most men would jump at the chance. Therefore, women get to have their fantasy whenever and wherever they want.
