Does it hurt? Yes.
Clamps and Clothespins
They pinch when they clamp down but that pain quickly dissipates. Less is more. A little bit of skin hurts a lot more than a large chunk and the nipples hurt 100 times more than anywhere else. The eye popping pain occurs when they’re removed. Blood and oxygen rush back into your skin and can result in a 20-30 second period of pain before dissipation begins again.
Spanking/slapping
Spanking targets the soft and cushy ass which can take quite a beating, but the back can also take slapping. The harder the slap, the greater the sting, but regardless, even a hard slap on a tender bottom will only linger for 30-45 seconds. Slapping the ass is more likely to cause a tender feeling the next day than slapping the back and if done long enough can make sitting painful, but more often you’ll be fully recovered inside of a few hours.
Punching
Believe it or not, punches are easier to take than slaps. The immediate pain is duller. However, taking punches tenderizes your muscles, so the pain increases steadily regardless of how much break a given spot gets. With a punch there’s about half a second of sharp pain followed by tightness in the muscle. The next day, you might feel like you went through a rough work out, but bruises themselves tend to only hurt if you touch them.
Cutting
Experienced cutters can take a scalpel to your skin and create some beautiful and sometimes permanent designs. If you dig your fingernail deep down into skin and then drag it along you’ll be within the range of what cutting feels like. It’s only slightly more intense and the pain is countered by the feeling of the skin being opened up and energy escaping the body. Later there will be a lingering dull but stingy burn and it will definitely itch.
Flogging
There are two kinds of floggers. A heavy flogger can make it feel like your trapezius muscles have decided to merge with your lungs. A heavy flogger hit stuns the body. The stun overshadows the pain and takes a minute to recover from. The smaller flogger is like a bunch of little, but strong, slaps landing at the same time over a wide area. It stings, but the spread makes it easier to absorb than a hand slap of equal strength.
Singletail
The singletail makes a loud frightening crack when thrown hard, but you’ll be receiving a far more controlled strike. A soft strike can feel like a caress. At a slightly harder level, the pain becomes a mixture of burn and sting, lingering for the usual 30 seconds. The actual strike feels like it draws blood even if it doesn’t. This isn’t incredibly painful. It’s more like the cutting sensation followed by an intense burn and sting.
*Both the singletail and the flogger can leave your back tender for a day or two. It’s a dull burning sensation that is triggered when your shirt brushes up against your skin.
Needles
Needle pain depends on the size of the needles being used and on how many layers of skin the needle is being put through. The puncture itself is a lot like having blood drawn. Sometimes it pinches and sometimes it doesn’t. They don’t hurt while in, but as they’re being pulled out there’s a slight burning sensation, followed by a quick sting.
All of these types of play hurt more the longer you experience them, but eventually your body reaches a point where the senses are so heightened you can start crying, shaking, laughing, and/or relaxing like a cat who just woke up. This is the high.
It’s normal to be nervous. But all pain is temporary and the sharpest pains are often fleeting. If you go in for that singletail scene and it hurts too much, just call out your safeword and stop. You’ll be feeling like yourself again in 60 seconds or less.
